This course is intended to give an overview of the science and business of forensic engineering, with special reference to Geotechnical Engineering. This includes identification of typical clients in the Forensic Engineering business, the legal process in Canada, the types of geotechnical and structural damage that are common in Canada, and the basics of the forensic investigation procedure.
Throughout the course, the attendees will develop the required skills to apply engineering design principles to help answer questions that could have legal implications to the involved parties in the investigated project.
A number of Canadian and international case studies will be thoroughly reviewed in class.
